Committees and Liaisons

Ohio ENA believes that the use of a liaison model, as opposed to a traditional committee model, is the best way to have fluid grassroots participation of its members.  Committee and Liaison appointments are done so at the discretion of Ohio ENA’s President.  Current positions and appointments include:

  • Ohio Student Nurses Liaison: Theresa Kirkham, RN

    Some Specific Liaison Roles Are Further Described Below:

    Government Affairs Liaison:  Ohio ENA’s Government Affairs Liaison is responsible for advocating the ENA Public Policy Agenda as identified by the National ENA and for promoting additional positions adopted by Ohio ENA State Council that are in congruence with the national public policy agenda. This liaison is also responsible for:

    ·         Identifying and monitoring pending legislation that affects emergency nursing health care and emergency patient needs;

    ·         Bringing key issues to the Ohio ENA Board of Directors and/or general membership for consideration;

    ·         Coordinating Ohio ENA’s participation in the annual "Nurses Day at the State House” event;

    ·         Maintaining contact with the national ENA Government Affairs Committee;

    ·         Assisting Ohio ENA members in drafting letters to legislators about pertinent legislation;

    ·         Providing information to Ohio ENA’s webmaster regarding key legislation that requires action on the part of Ohio ENA members around the State;

    ·         Mentoring Ohio ENA members and planning for government affairs leadership succession; and

    ·         Completing other duties as requested by Ohio ENA’s Board of Directors.

    TNCC/ENPC Liaison:  Ohio ENA’s TNCC/ENPC Liaison has oversight for TNCC and ENPC Courses offered in Ohio. According to ENA’s TNCC & ENPC Course Administrative Procedures (October 1, 2007 Update, Section I/5/h), TNCC/ENPC Course Directors no longer have to submit copies of course evaluations to State Chairpersons unless asked to do by the Chairpersons. TNCC/ENPC Course Directors are expected to contact the respective State Chair and/or State President about any issues that arise at TNCC/ENPC Courses. All post-course documents are to be submitted to National ENA in accordance with TNCC/ENPC Administrative Procedures.
